Steve’s journey in M&A advisory work began when he received his MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001 in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He was drawn to the entrepreneurship program because of an interest in what makes businesses work at their fundamental core and because of an affinity for entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial process in general. While in school, he worked with the M&A and venture capital team at a regional law firm developing business plans for companies raising venture capital, which was his first access to the world of business sales and capital raises.
Steve worked with startups, both inhouse and as a consultant, for most of the next six years from 2001 to 2007, during which time he formed Royko Enterprises, LLC to provide consulting and M&A advisory services to small and midsize businesses. In 2007, an opportunity came to lead the Madison office of a Midwestern M&A Advisory firm. Steve went out on his own in 2009, and continued to build a successful M&A advisory practice.
In 2012, Steve aligned Royko Enterprises with The Peakstone Group (www.peakstonegroup.com), a midmarket M&A advisory firm based out of Chicago. The partnership has been a tremendous success, providing Steve with access to a global market of buyers and investors as well as a strong team and partner.
Steve has now been involved in more than 50 transactions in a variety, providing focused, local service to companies with access to national and global network of investors and buyers.
