About Steve Royko

Steve Royko

Steve Royko is the owner at Royko Enterprises LLC, a Madison, Wisconsin-based firm that specializes in merger and acquisition advisory services to companies seeking to exit or purchase other businesses, and business planning services to companies seeking to raise debt or equity financing.

For 13 years, Steve has advised companies seeking to facilitate transactions to exit or finance their businesses.

Since 2007, Steve has provided merger and acquisition advisory services to both profitable going concerns seeking a successful exit and distressed businesses, including those in some form of bankruptcy, receivership, or other court-directed processes necessitating an exit. In the last few years, Steve has advised on numerous multi-million dollar transactions, representing multiple clients that met or exceeded target prices in one of the most difficult financing environments in recent memory.

He also has 13 years of experience providing strategic planning services to companies in a variety of industries and stages that require a business plan to help secure debt or equity funding.

Prior to founding Royko Enterprises, Steve served as interim CEO of a Wisconsin real estate company and was charged with stabilizing the business. Under his leadership the company secured a significant credit line, repositioned its products, restructured management, streamlined operations, identified a new president, and surpassed the prior year’s sales in eight months.

Earlier in his career, Steve worked for the Madison law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, both managing strategic business development initiatives for the firm and also assisting clients of the firm’s Venture Best group with strategic business plans, market research, and feasibility studies designed to help their efforts in raising capitol.

Steve values long-term relationships with clients and contacts. He has received many client recommendations for his work in both mergers and acquisitions and business planning.

Steve also serves as a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. He holds an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was named Outstanding Student of the Year in the Weinert Applied Ventures in Entrepreneurship (WAVE) program. He has been a judge in the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Competition from 2009 through 2012 and in the G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011 and 2012.

Steve serves as a mentor with Rubins for Kids, a member of the Economic Impact and Resources for the Clean Lakes Alliance, and a member of the Endowment Committee for Edgewood High School.

Steve makes his home in Stoughton, Wisconsin with his wife, Jessica, and their three children.
